MSR175plus transport data logger with GPS

Revolutionary: simultaneous shock detection ±15 g and ±200 g

Where and when did an event take place during a transport that is outside the preset tolerance limit? The new MSR175plus shock data logger with GPS tracking answers this question conclusively.

Freight is exposed to a variety of risks on its way to the customer. Too hard shocks and impacts during loading, reloading or unloading, temperatures that are too high or unacceptable humidity levels are among the most common causes of damage. The tamper-proof MSR175plus data logger uses highly sensitive sensors to record critical transport events and also uses GPS to record the position. The recorded measurement data are not only indispensable for clarifying liability and insurance issues in the event of damage incidents, they also help to optimise packaging.

Acceleration sensors simultaneously record ±15 g and ±200 g shock values

Acceleration measurements have always been part of the core competence of MSR Electronics GmbH; even NASA has its transport flights to the International Space Station ISS accompanied by loggers from the Swiss measurement technology company. With the development of the MSR175plus, the company has now achieved something unparalleled: for the first time, shock values of ±15 g and ±200 g can be acquired and recorded simultaneously with one data logger. The customer no longer has to decide whether to measure with the ±15 g or the ±200 g sensor. This is a decisive advantage in applications where it is not clear from the outset which of the two acceleration sensors should be selected. This eliminates the risk of not selecting the correct sensor when setting up. Simultaneous measurement takes place with the ±200 g sensor at 6400 Hz and with the ±15 g sensor at 1600 Hz, so both light shocks and strong shocks and impacts are detected, in all three axes. In addition, the MSR175plus measures and stores the parameters temperature, humidity, air pressure and light, which are also important for transport monitoring.

Collecting important transport data - over months

The MSR175plus data logger's memory of over 4 million readings is sufficient to record data for days or months; over 1,000 shock or impact events can be registered. The 2400 mAh lithium polymer battery, which can be recharged via USB, ensures a long runtime of the logger – even with GPS tracking activated. Once transport monitoring has been completed, the MSR175plus offers the option of removing the battery. This may be relevant due to country-specific regulations.

Locate critical transport events using GPS tracking

In order to be able to localise critical transport events, the new MSR175plus is equipped with an integrated GPS/GNSS receiver. The satellite-based position data is stored by the data logger, so that the location of the damage to the transported goods can be quickly determined afterwards and documented with evidentiary value.

Simple operation, extensive evaluation options

The measurement data recorded by the MSR175plus can be quickly transferred to a computer via the USB interface. To quickly call up a compact report of the measurement data – for documentation purposes, for example – just click on the "MSR ReportGenerator". The "MSR ShockViewer" evaluation software is available to the user for a more detailed evaluation of relevant shock events. And to start a recording cycle, a software "dashboard" is used that allows the logger to be configured via PC with just a few mouse clicks.
